nanny

I was wondering how those of you that have a nanny found them? With my first we put her in daycare 3 days a week.  The cheapest daycare we could find around here was $54 per day.  With the twins they want $86 a day each, plus the $54 for my 2 year old and we are over our heads. I just don't know how to find a good babysitter or nanny.  I don't know how to tell who is legit, who's references are legit, who I can trust with my 3 kids?  I've looked at a few websites but was hoping some of you could share.

Thanks.

Re: nanny

  • we used care.com.  And as far as knowing if they are legit, you just have to do the best you can with checking references and doing a background check. Ultimately, you do have to go with your gut.

  • We have an au pair.  She costs $195.75 a week and works 45 hours each week.  She is wonderful with the twins and we dont have to worry about getting the kids out the door or wonder if they are getting all the attention they need.  Plus, she does all my dishes, bottles, makes baby food and washes all their clothes so I don't have to do it when I get home.  Having an au pair was the best decision we made.  If you are interested, let me know.  I will get you directly in touch with my area director.  She waived all application fees since we had twins and I am sure she will do the same for you.

  • Hi there! I am so happy to hear some information about getting a nanny or in your case an au pair (is there a difference?) Anyway, I am in the middle of looking for one as well. I would love to get the contact information from you. I am due in Nov3 (really Oct I'm sure) but I have been asking around and searching online. $195.75 is an amazing deal! Wow I've seen nanny rates go for $500-700 a week! I really appreciate you sharing and look forward to hearing from you.

  • Also, I heard GoNannies.com is a good place. I actually heard it from a former nanny who found her job through the site. So this is a site I am exploring as well. Glad you posted this question and hoping to hear more.

you can send from the Contact+ button on the bottom of a post. You can check them in the left bar of the page - scroll towards the bottom. most people "page" someone (post with their name in the title) to tell them they have PM since there's no alert.

  • Oh duh - thank you cookiemonster03. Lol! Still hoping to get that contact number for the au pair.
  • Hi Girls!
