Where do you find sandals for him? I am having the most impossible time finding anything in a size 12 that isn't a flip flop or what looks basically like a tennis shoe w/slits on the sides. Help?? TIA
My aunt got DS a pair of Buster Brown's that I think are from Famous Brand Shoes. They are similar to the second pair that mamarazzi posted. He normally wears flip flops and occasionally his Keens though.
I buy the boys Stride Rite Tucker sandals every year... nothing exciting, but they're closed toe (which we have to have for school), leather and actually look ok dressed up.
Re: If you have boys - shoe question.
I've actually had the best luck with sandals at Gap.
I got some like this for DS2 last year and they held up great:
I just got him these there for $4 on clearance.
Looks like they only go up to size 11 and the selection online for bigger boys is pretty lame. However, I think they usually have more in the store.

What about Tevas?
My 4yo has the Keens that are more like Crocs (Sunports). I love them because I can just hose them out when they get dirty or stinky.
I got DS these Keen sandals.

They are made with croc-like material which I like since he can run into the water with them and it's easy to brush sand off.

We also get the boys Keens and Crocs for sand/water play.
