Has your decision to go back to work changed?

so my baby is one month and one day old today. i have short term disabilty(maternity leave) until July 19th, and have FMLA up to 12 weeks. I was considering going back to work mid August, taking 4 weeks of FMLA. A couple of days ago i decided i would go back monday after Labor day, but I can't imagine leaving my baby! I work part-time at a hospital as a surgical tech (4 days a week, plus every other day of call (16 hours)).  I work at the hospital for the benefits/insurance. I also own a business which is where my husband works but we dont have insurance since we are self-employed and it would cost us an arm and a leg. just venting and wondering if anyone else is feeling the same way. and if i dont return to work do still have to work 2 weeks to have my leave covered?

I have to go back, wish we could afford for me not to, but I also don't have the patience to be a stay at home mom, especially with my 4yr old.  I want to find a new job/career though and am interested in surgical tech.  What can you tell me about the job?  What schooling is required, is it a rewarding career?  Family friendly?  Easy to find a job, what is starting pay like, etc?

Good luck on your decision.  What would you do for insurance if you quit?

I can't imagine putting her in full time day care either but I bring in 50% of the income to our house and I wouldn't want to put the burden of bill paying solely on my husband so I'm honestly torn.  He's fully supportive of whatever I want to do, so we are going through a bunch of options right now and seeing what will fly with my job (if any).  If they won't be flexible with my schedule at all, I likely won't go back for longer than 2 weeks notice.
