What is everyone planning on doing for 4th of July (aside from parties at a family/friend's house)? This is our first 4th of July with a little one and I am not familiar with the family-friendly festivities. We are looking for something fun to do!

We're headed to Grand Haven, MI for the 4th this year but last year we did the red, white, and Blue Ash festival. Peter Frampton played for free and the fireworks were amazing. We all really enjoyed ourselves!

We've been doing balloon glow at Coney the last few years. It's a lot of fun. We usually leave before the fireworks since DS hasn't ever been a big fan.

I read about this, which is what actually prompted me to ask the question! I just wasn't sure if Maddie would enjoy it since she's only a little over 6 1/2 months old.

That looks like fun! This is our first year with a LO as well. I keep trying to decide if I think he will be scared by the fireworks or not. It would be nice to have a family friendly activity to go to that's earlier in the evening.
Celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary in Chicago! Charlotte is spending the weekend with Grammy and Grandpa. We'll miss her, but we are really looking forward to so much needed Mommy/Daddy time!!!

The balloons are really neat to watch. I think she would at least enjoy all the things to look at. We always leave early before the fireworks. We've been parking at the race track, and leaving early has never been a problem.
