Any suggestions that go well with Rusty? Either first name or middle. DH likes the name but we can't think of anything that goes with it. TIA

I do agree w/other poster of having it possibly be a nickname for a name like Russell.  It doesn't sound right "by itself" as a first or a middle name.  And...sorry to say...it sounds very redneck, IMO.

I think Russell sounds a lot better than Rusty, so I'd go with that and call him Rusty as a nn.  I think Russel Owen sounds good together.

I went to school with a "Russell James" who had the nn Rusty.

 

You didn't ask but...I don't think Rusty ages well.

Thanks for all of the opinions. I will mention these to DH. And yes, Rusty is a little redneck but I think that is why DH likes it ? The rest of his names are along those lines too

I agree completely. My fiance's name is Rusty David(family name)...not Russell with nn Rusty...just Rusty! I love my man to pieces but i don't understand why you would give them Rusty as a name, especially for when they become adults. Just my opinion. He's 34 and does not love his name and neither do i. Every other Rusty I've met, which is actually quite a few, all had Russell or Rustin for a fn and Rusty was a nn.

My grandfather's name was Rusty, so I personally think it can age well, since he was 85 when he died and it sounded perfectly normal to me

 

His real name was Paul Benjamin, but was called Rusty because of his red hair.  I think Rusty Benjamin could actually work pretty well, though.

Yes, but your Grandfather had a 'real' name that he could use professionally (if he wanted) and Rusty was a nn due to his red hair, which if you met him would make the nn make sense.

True, to a point.  He always went by Rusty, professionally and personally.  I guess that was his choice, ultimately, but no one knew him by anything other than Rusty.  And, when he was 80, I'm pretty sure people didn't make the Rusty connection with his grey hair

I read it as Rusty Cart, and thought it was a joke.

I don't have suggestios on MNs, but I agree with the PPs that it would be better to use Russell as his full name.
