Trying to Get Pregnant

telling family

How do you plan (or how did you) to tell family members when you get your BFP?  For MH I am sure I'll just run screaming to him with the pee stick in my hand.

For my dad, this will be his first grandchild and the man is dying to have one.  I found this cute mug I plan on getting him, it says "great dads get promoted to grandpa".  I'm excited to see how long it takes him to get it since I'm sure he'll be in shock (he doesn't know we're TTC).

My inlaws already have 6 grandkids, and they go by Nana and Papa.  About a year ago (before we were even married let alone TTC) I bought these picture frames that have Nana and Papa engraved because I thought it was so unique to have their exact titles (though since then I've seen Nana and Papa everywhere).  So we plan on giving them the frames and inside it will say "picture coming soon, April 2012" (or whatever month).

Re: telling family

  • For our parents I wanted to wear this shirt I saw at a store and see how long it takes them to figure it out. I'm a HUGE St. Louis Cardinals fan and I saw this shirt that said "Future Cardinals Fan" with an arrow pointing down to the stomach. I think that would be kind of cute, but I don't know if DH would go for it since he's a Cubs fan....lol

     All Welcome :)

  • My husband and I work together; offices are about 60 feet apart. He leaves for work earlier than I do, and I usually work later and sometimes have late meetings. While it wouldn't be the worst thing ever, I hope I don't get my BFP before work, on a day when I have a meeting which will go until 9pm. I don't want to share the news with him at work (awkward turtle!), but I also don't want to have to wait 12 hours! I'd have a hard time not blurting it out when he popped his head into my office during the day!

As for the 'rents, I haven't really thought about it much. It'll depend on when we'll see them again, etc. We live 5 hours from my parents and 12 from his.

The fun one will be telling my younger sister. She's very dramatic; cried more than I did when I got engaged. So yeah... that part could be entertaining.

  • My mother & mother in law's bdays are both in august so if it happens this cycle then it will be a birthday present for them. If not we will have it at whatever holiday is closest prob. I will either get a frame or a cute onesie. No one in my family knows were TTC so it will be a big surprise. Although, I am close to my mom & sister and yet I havent told them at all. Its hard but we want to keep it a surprise.

  • I bought a shirt for DS that says "I'm going to be a big brother".. I plan on putting it on him right before DH comes home from work. As for our parents, I'll have DS video chat with my parents wearing the shirt & see how longs it takes them to figure out. Everyone else with find out via photo or by looking at the photoshoot of DS I'll do in the shirt!

  • For MH I bought a onesie with Texas Aggies since he loves when little kids are dressed like that but who knows I may be so excited I would just burst it out.

For my parents and siblings I was going to use my nephew who is three and tell him to tell his Nana there was a baby in my belly (joke in my family he has said that about others when there was no baby)

For his family (not sure I feel that should be left up to my DH

  • For my DH I bought a onesie that says "I love my Daddy". If I don't run out of the bathroom screaming I will tell him that way :)

For my parents and his, we will get frames that say "Grandkids" or "Grandchildren" and put a piece of paper that says "Coming soon... (Month) 2012."

For our close friends, we want to have everyone over and get a group picture, instead of saying "Cheese" MY DH will say "Say 'Jess is Pregnant'" and then take the picture with everyone's faces! Hopefully it will all work out :)

  • We have a shirt for our puppy to wear that says "I'm gonna be a big brother" with his name on it all ready to go. Our puppy is our baby so that would be clever.

I'm a huge Phillies fan and I thought about getting the future Phillies fan with the arrow pointing down. That would be so cool!!!
