Parenting after 35

**mtnrider**

Hey I wanted to bring up something after reading your reply to Pesky in her FFFC post.

OMG I really need to try bribery because S has stopped swallowing all Motrin and Tylenol...last fever he had went untreated because he spit out everything...infants Motrin and Tylenol, Childrens Motrin and Tylenol...I even tried the chewable Motrin and Tylenol and he spit it out.  But how do you make an almost 21 month old understand bribery?  I think he might be a little too young for that...not sure that he'd understand the words "If you swallow this then you get this"???

I know that you can get rectal suppositories with acetaminophen in them. I had to Google to find the product and it said "ask pediatrician re: dosing for children under 3" but wanted to let you know it's an option (at the very least in the future). I've heard of parents using this when their LO had a stomach virus and vomited out the meds.

  • We just put any medication (liquid form) into her milk and she drinks it fine. She never swallowed it when we tried to give it to her without the milk. Just a thought...

  • Thanks Robyn, sorry I missed this, someone from BB just texted me about your post ;-)  I will ask the pedi about that and I don't think Simon would mind a pill up the butt because I always take his temperature rectally and he doesn't even flinch!

  • Kathi it sounds like our LOs are very similar...won't sit still in restaurants or strollers, won't take meds...stubborn toddlers!  I'll try that with fever meds but how do you give Sarah her fluoride?  I thought that had to be given 2 hours apart from any dairy product...

  • I give her a multi vitamin in her milk. It doesn't say to avoid dairy for that...
