Rinse Agent?

Something made me check the ingredients in dishwasher rinse agent (Jet Dry). I was wondering what I was purposefully smearing all over our dishes and glasses. I was expecting some sort of alcohol and a food grade thickener like gelatin. The ingredients in rinse agent are: Water, Rinse Aid Indifferent, Dispersing Agent [:&], Colorant, Quality Control Agent. Uhhhhhhh....thanks for the help there. That tells me nothing. Which, in turn, tells me that I don't want this crap on my dishes. Thoughts?

Re: Rinse Agent?

  • Yeah, I'd ditch it.  We've never used one and don't have problems.  We use eCover tabs for our detergent and they rinse clean.  I know some ladies on here use vinegar so maybe try that if you feel like you need something.

  • I use Lemi-Shine along side my detergent and it leaves my glasses crystal clear (without it my glasses look filthy and cloudy, like awful).

  • We started using white vinegar and the change is amazing.  My dishes actually get clean.  It doesn't last as long as Jet Dry, so check your level more often.
