Food Allergy

If your child has celiac disease

What symptoms did/do they have?  I'm concerned that my DD may be following in my footsteps, but I'm also trying not to be paranoid.  I know there are a whole host of symptoms that people may or may not have--I certainly had some of the most obscure, seemingly random symptoms myself.  (rash, joint pain, infertility/miscarriage).

My DD frequently complains about her stomach hurting and has very pale stools.

Re: If your child has celiac disease

  • My child doesn't have it, but my mom & brother do.  Some symptoms they had were puffy sinuses, gas, bloating, digestive issues (loose, frequent stools), generally feeling crappy.  I am sure they could list more than that.  They both ended up getting blood allergy testing & they are allergic to many more things than that though.  They both feel sooo much better physically now that they know what foods to avoid.  Good luck!

    Expecting someone new 4/17/17.
  • My DH has it and when he was a child he had headaches, tiredness, sick easily, bloated, diarrhea, and mouth sores. He's never been officially tested, but he doesn't eat gluten anymore and is a different person. I know it is genetic, so there's a high chance if you have it, your daughter probably has it (if she has some if the symptoms). So either get a diagnosis or put her on a GF diet so she feels better!

  • DDs' earliest symptoms were stomach pain, gas, fussiness, mild rashes and trouble sleeping.

The anemia, weight-loss, vomitting, bloating, mouth sores, fatigue, etc didn't come until DD2 was quite sick and DD3 never got sick enough for those symptoms.

  • My DD definitely has trouble sleeping.
