Trying to Get Pregnant

Longer cycles after starting TTC?

Before starting TTC I could predict AF within a day...I always had 30/31 day cycles.  Since starting this whole process, my last cycle was 40 days. On my current one, I'm at CD34.  I was traveling internationally just around the time FF thinks I O'ed, so I'm worried it actually happened later but my temps are messed up from travel.  I did get a positive OPK CD17 but I'm well aware that may not mean anything.

I guess I'm wondering if anyone else suddenly had longer cycles when they started TTC, and if they ever went back to "normal."  The idea of consistently longer cycles (40+) is frustrating.

Is there anything you're doing now that made you less stressed about TTC?

  • I know things like stress and travelling can delay O so that will then make your cycles longer. For what it's worth, I think ff has it right with your chart.

  • Mine have definitely gotten longer! Immediately after getting off of birth control (But still using other protection) my cycle was 40 days, then 54 but the real kicker was the month we decided to go ahead and really try was the start of a 90+ day cycle! Thankfully I haven't had one that long since but I'm currently on day 49 and no clue if I've ovulated yet...long cycles are not fun. GL to you, I hope yours regulate and get shorter!

  • Personally, I don't think I ever truly knew how long my "normal" cycles were. Since TTC I am now aware of my body, my cycle length and so on. As far as how to be less stressed, my DH and I have agreed not to temp this cycle. It has more to do with my lack of sleep (I temp at 4 am and can't fall back to sleep) than anything else. If we go a few months without a BFP then we may reevaluate the temping. I am still keeping track of my CM and CP and will probably start using OPKs.

  • YES! After my son I had normal periods within a MONTH of giving birth and once I started TTC when he was 11months old I went to 30 day cycles instead of 28! I'm chalking it up to stress during TTC though.
