Wow, what a roller coaster of a two weeks it has been! We were told a little over a week ago by a pediatric cardiologist that Baby B's chances of survival were not good (we were also told at this same appointment that we didn't need to be followed by a MFM). Luckily, we decided to get a second opinion at a larger hospital and the news turned out to be more positive! We have had a wonderful experience at Duke and are thankful that we followed our instincts on a second opinion. They can handle any heart related issues that may come up (even a transplant if necessary) and we are confident that we are getting top notch care.
We are certainly not out of the woods yet. Baby B will need immediate intervention after birth, but we are now hopeful that he will make it to this point. We go back to have another fetal echo in a week and a half and are praying that things have either stayed the same or improved. The stress of not knowing what is going on is incredibly heavy at times but I am trying to stay positive.
I have created a website that I try and update at least once a week if you are interested. Thanks for all the T&P!
Re: Update on Baby B
So grateful you got better news! It is amazing what they can do these days in the medical field I work at a hospital where they do pediatric heart transplants and it is just amazing what the little ones go through and their outcomes.
Hoping everything keeps moving in the right direction for you and that both babies stay in good health!
