What to take to Amusement Park?

We are meeting up with friend at Holiday World (kind of like KI I believe in Santa Clause, IN) and I am trying to think of what I need. I haven't been to a park in years and haven't taken DD anywhere like that. What do I need to take with us.

We are not usually ones to use strollers but because I think they are annoying but I'm thinking I will take our cheap umbrella stroller just incase I do want something to push her in while she sleeps or push our stuff. I guess I figure if something happens to the stroller I won't be heartbroken.

Extra clothes, sunscreen, bathing suit? I'm sure there are things I'm forgetting so give me your best tips for tackling a large park with rides and water. Thanks Smile

When I go to KI with B, I take our stroller with a backpack.  Trust me on the backpack.  Inside the backpack, I have disposable changing pads, enough diapers for a full day, wipes, sunscreen for me and him, and some snacks in ziploc bags/take and toss cups, along with drinks for him.  Typical snacks are crackers, cheerios, and raisins.  I also put my wallet in there with a small amount of cash. The nice thing about the backpack is that it is easier to carry and chase after a toddler.

If you plan on swimming, take a bathing suit, swim diaper(s), and a change of clothes.  I have yet to go to Boomerang Bay at KI with B because this is the first year we've had passes and I really want DH to go with me to that for an extra set of eyes the first time we go.

I personally think a stroller is a must.  There is a TON of walking, and when you add in the parking lot, it's too much.  I've never had a problem parking my stroller.. I just don't leave anything in it.  Maybe I'm weird, but I like having a stroller because of the cup holder for me.

  • Last year when we took C to an amusement park we brought her snacks and drinks.  We also took a few small books and toys for her to read/play with while we waited for lunch and some rides.  We also took her lovey and paci and a light blanket for her to take a nap in the stroller.

I liked having our big stroller so she could recline to nap and there was plenty of room to store things and places for us to easily access our drinks and camera.

Also maybe a towel and sunglasses for the water part?

    Have fun!

  • Take what I say with a grain of salt.. because I am a light packer.

I bring the stroller and a waist belt thing. In the waist belt I put; my car  key, our passes, cash/credit card and a cell. It is pretty tiny so that is all that fits.

In the stroller I have extra clothes for both, 2 water bottles and a fruit for each of us (3 bananas, 3 apples etc) and a salty snack (seasame sticks, pretzes etc). My stoller gets taken into the park and stuck in a corner somewhere. We only come back to the stroller is someone gets hungry.

     That's it.

I thought of something else... when I took B to KI a few weeks ago, we left at 7:30.  He fell asleep for the night on the way home.  In hindsight, I would have packed PJs and put them on him in the car (along with a fresh diaper) in the parking lot before we left.
  • thanks for your help. We had a blast :)
