Yay me! Not the ideal type thing, but with both my boyfriend and I being unemployed. I take what I can get.
I will be a bartender in a country bar (town population of 91). Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
I kind of like it because in the fall it won't interfere with substitute teaching. I have a Bachelor's in Broad Field Social Studies Education. I applied for three teaching positions... one had 270 applicants, another had 154 applicants, and the third I haven't heard back from yet.
I kind of like the idea of having a job with tips... more tips means more diapers. Haha.
Re: NCDR: I finally got a job.
If it makes you feel better, one of the social studies jobs I applied for had 347 applicants!
ETA: I forgot to say congrats!
Congrats!!
I always loved my jobs best when tips were involved - it was always my "free" spending money and my actual check went towards "important issues".
Im a SAHM for the time being (and a volunteer firefighter but I dont rely on that for any sort of money since its paid out once/yr) but I would actually LOVE to bartend in one of our two town's bars - we are also a really small city - about 1 sq mile!
Holy crap. I keep telling myself that when there are that many applicants that there are plenty of people who are better than me... IE they have their master's or have teaching experience. I only have my student teaching and 3 years of subbing under my belt. I cried when I get the rejection letter... but for ten minutes and tell myself to be realistic.
Lol...I have my masters and 4 years of teaching experience, and I didn't even get a courtesy letter...just an email telling me how many applicants they had!
Thanks everyone!
I do like country music. By dog and house sitting this weekend I am missing out on Star Spangled Celebration in the town I live now.
I keep brainstorming what I can do with my BFSS degree that would be fun besides teaching. Like design Museum displays? Write Trivial Pursuit questions? What a wonderful life.
