Hi Everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself since my husband and I have just decided that we are ready to TTC for the first time. I have been busy researching and try to learn as much as I can about the process by joining FertiltyFriend.com and reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility and some of the articles and posts on this site.
The biggest issue that I am having is that when I am not on BC I do not get my period. I went to a fertility doc last year to get to the bottom of the problem and they said that everything was normal and I was ovulating, just not shedding my lining. With this in mind, I am finding it very difficult to figure out charting without knowing what day to start on or when to take a pregnancy test. I just started so hopefully I will figure it all out!
Anyone else have this same problem? Anyway, I am looking forward to getting to know you all and being part of the community.

Welcome. I do agree with PP that you should get a second opinion. From what I understand, you can have a period without ovulating (break through bleeding.) But not, ovulate and then not have a period. Know what I mean?
Lots of luck to you!

Actually I found this at AmericanPregnancy.org
Can I ovulate without having a period?
Since a woman releases an egg 12-16 days before her expected period, it is possible for women to get pregnant without having periods. Women who are not menstruating due to a certain condition (i.e.?low body weight, breastfeeding, perimenopause) risk the chance of ovulating at any point. For those who want to conceive, the lack of periods could make it more difficult to know the timing of ovulation if you are not charting temperature and cervical fluid changes. But if you are not having periods and wanting to prevent pregnancy, a form of contraception should be used since there is no way to know when ovulation will occur.
Welcome and good luck!
I agree that you should get a second opinion. I'm sure there is something a doctor can do to help you out.

very new lurker here - I agree with pp's to get a second opinion. Something could be wrong with your endometrial lining or the hormones associated with healthy building and shedding of your lining (estrogen/progesterone). If that's the case - even if you are ovulating (like others, I've never heard of o'ing without a period) - you could have difficulty sustaining a pregnancy.
Also, unless you've had a series of ultrasounds confirming that you are indeed ovulating, I am wondering how your doctor knows you are ovulating?
