For us it was sex. We had been dating for almost 2 months before we slept together though, if that makes it better. He also said I love you first. We'd been dating for 3 months, he said he was going to say something and I didn't have to say anything back. He said it and I said "Thank you". I knew I loved him too, but it wasn't a word I was ready to commit to yet. When I finally said it we'd been dating for almost 6 months.

Sex first for us. That said I had been good friends with him for 3 years before we started dating so he wasn't a stranger by any means.

I don't remember.  I know he said it before I did.  And I know he said it before we had sex.  I can't remember if I had said it back yet... We dated a month before I gave away the milk for free though.

We dated for about 2 months before we had sex & he said I love you about a week or so before it. I wasn't so ready to made the committment so I just said "Ditto"! 18 years later & he still gives me crap for it!

He told me he loved me less than a month later - and we moved in 5 months after our first date and bought our house 8 months after our first date - we both knew it was right from almost the beginning!  That was over 8 years ago!

Dated officially for about 2 weeks before ILYs, then another week before sexy time.  Two weeks after *that* we got engaged.  We'd known each other for about 14 months before we started dating, and worked together extensively, so it was a case of friends ending up together and we'd already gotten way past the "getting to know you" stage.

Ha! Me too!  Same thing, except we moved in together after 9 months.  We were also long distance for our first nine months though too... I think it makes a difference!

Okay so I'm the prude who waited years (yeah that is plural) before doing the deed with DH.  But in my defense we were teenagers when we started dating.  I'm sure the parents in all of us can appreciate that.
