Double Stroller Question

I am looking for a double stroller...not sure what kind yet and I am looking for some suggestions.  My DS will be 2.5 when the second one is born.  I thought I saw a stroller that can hold the carseat on top and then my 2.5 y/o can sit like it's a normal stroller??  Is there a stroller like this or am I just imagining it?

Thanks

here is a link to the chicco double stroller that you can put the car seat in.

We have the chicco trevi twin and love it.  DD was 15 months when DS was born so we needed something they could both sit in.  We then got the Joovy Ultralight Sit and Stand and it is awesome.  You can use it as a snap n go too.  But the older one won't be able to lay back and fall asleep on it.

  • I'm pg with my second as well (stupid bump wont let me update my account) and have researched this non-stop!! We're going with the Bumbleride Indie Twin. Pricey but well worth it if we keep it for years (planning on having one more). I've compared soooo many double strollers and even a lot of the pricey ones like the BOB have a small basket or a large basket that has a bar right in the middle so you can't access it and it makes it worthless. Few have footrests that adjust, few fully recline, few hold 1-2 carseats etc. The Bumbleride Indie Twin does it all!! That will be for Disneyland and most things we do. For quick 10 mins trips to the store, I will probably go with the Combi Twin Sport. My friend has it and likes it for quick trips. Not as comfortable, not as many features and smaller basket but still works.

There are surprisingly a lot of stroller reviews on YouTube so you can see how they work and their features.

Here is a website that might be helpful too. A mom of 5 (one set of twins) was on the hunt for the best double stroller....

  • Are you sure that your DS will still be willing to ride in a stroller by then?  By 2.5, my DD wanted nothing to do with them, ever.  She won't even do shopping cart seats anymore and basically walks on her own everywhere.  She'll be 3.5 when this baby arrives, so we aren't likely to buy any type of new stroller, but if I had the money, I would get one of those stand on tandem strollers that have the regular stroller part for the little one and the small seat and platform for the older kid to hop on and off.

  • Like the PP said, I would look into a Sit N Stand type.  DS #1 will be 3 when #2 arrives and even now @ 28 months really doesn't like his stroller.  I think I will be getting a Joovy UltraLight Caboose.  I will include a link for you too.  GL w/ your decision.

There is a great video with it.

DD1 was 27 months when DD2 got here.  We went with the boring Graco duoglider from BRU.  I figured DD1 still liked riding in the stroller, plus I would be by myself with both kids quite often.  Honestly, we haven't used the double stroller a whole lot but the times that we have, it has been a lifesaver.  We actually went to the store with the intention of getting a Sit and Stand (because even with the Graco, DD1 is constantly in and out) until we found out that to fit the carseat we already had, we would have to get an extra part for the stroller.  The Graco ended up having more seating/reclining options so we were okay with going that direction.

  • My DD1 HATES the Joovy sit n stand so we had to buy a double stroller for trips to the zoo and walks.  We go to the zoo a lot so it is necessary for us.  We got the Graco Quatro one.

  • you likely won't have your older child in a stroller for long after the baby is born - i'd just wear the baby and use whatever single you have now.... or get a sit and stand.... or add on a hitch hiker board to what you have now... we started using that with DS1 when he was 3 and he loves it.

but if you really want a double- the BJ City Select is a great option b/c it's a single to double- so you can use as a single or double.... and with a hitch hiker board, too (i use mine with the twins and DS1 on back on the board).... or a Phil & Teds or similar.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.
