red chapped bottom

My LO's bum is red and chapped feeling.  Just right around the crack.  I just started putting aquaphor on him at night.  Before that I used nothing, just wiped with sensitive wipes and made sure it was fairly dry before putting a new diaper on.  So what should I use to fix it?  And what to do to make sure it doesn't comr back?

We part tie Cloth Diaper, and I was just about to switch to full time, so Cd friendly would be good, but not necessary.

How often are you changing? It might be from sitting in a wet/dirty diaper a bit too long.

I use coconut oil (cd safe) as a moisture barrier and Live Clean Baby Diaper Ointment (cd safe) if it looks angrier than usual.

I swear by buttpaste!! best thing ever made and my sons ped said its harmless so use as much as needed!

Ditto pp on the coconut oil. I've heard great things about it! A friend of mine that cloth diapered a very sensitive baby full time had great success with this healing her rashes.

We use disposables so I'm sorry if my advice isn't cloth friendly but...

DS got a little diaper rash when we got home from the hospital and we've just been using a little powder every change in all the creases. At night we always put Desitin on just the crack because that's when he tends to be in a dirty diaper a little longer than usual and it hasn't had it since. HTH:)

We CD except for night time right now and switching to cloth during the day alone helped B's rash.  With the CDs I put powder in my hand then dab it on his rear and I've been erring on the side of caution with wetness and change him a lot.

You can also get liners and use regular diaper cream.
