We are on day 5 of sippy cups only, and DD has yet to take more than 6.5oz of wcm in a day. And she still screams bloody murder when I offer it only to eventually give in and take a couple oz. Sigh. She still won't have anything to do with milk during meal time, only after her naps.
I used to take comfort in her loving cheese and that she would let me feed her yogurt with breakfast. Well, now it appears she has decided yogurt sucks and she hits the spoon when she sees it, sending yogurt across the room and usually all over the dog (who is hovering at the high chair...). And cheese is now gross, and is only good for throwing on the floor. Much to the dog's delight. Oh, and she also now hates about 75% of the other non-dairy foods she used to eat without issue. Of course, this all happens in the same week.
she ate a few yogurt melts this morning, so I will keep trying with those. but straw cups are a failure. Kafir is a failure. Offering milk/kafir/whatever in a regular cup is a failure. I am going to try some full fat ricotta to see if she will eat that on toast or with pasta, but would love other ideas.
please tell me this is a phase. Or that somehow 6oz of milk will be enough. Because as strong and rational as I usually am, I am having nightmares of her being malnourished and thin at our next appointment... Bah! I miss the days when I could throw her on a boob and that was that.

Because we're fancy like that.

Re: Please tell me it is ok. Or that this will pass...
TOTALLY normal. COMPLETELY. Next week she'll love yogurt and hate cheerios, etc.
Just give a variety of healthy foods. If she won't drink milk, offer water or watered down juice just for fluids but they don't really NEED dairy as long as they are getting the calcium, etc from other foods. We use vit D and calcium fortified OJ in our house for example.
Toddlers are bizarre and will change what they like/don't like on a daily basis.
Food Issues stink. Jake does the same thing..one day loves watermelon next day HATES it and throws it on the floor..also feeding the dogs. I just don't stress about it. After reading many other posts on here abt food issues and talking with my other mommy friends I realized it can be just a phase. Frustrating yes, that he will only eat mac and cheese, grill cheese, broccoli and chicken nuggets..but if that is what it takes for me to feed him then fine..
As far as the milk only out of a sippy..My only thought is maybe she just isn't ready yet?! Jake LOVES his bottels..and I talked to our pedi about it at our last apt he said he was ok with him still taking a bottle up until he is about 15months. I am hoping it won't take that long to get rid of it! We havn't really done WCM yet..he as tried it a few times..I plan on starting to wean him off his formula over the next few weeks..
Jake also loves to feed the dogs when he is done with his meal he also just now drops the food on the floor to feed the dogs..So annoying! I don't think I really gave you any advice, I just know how you feel!
Oh sweetie, I can only imagine (though not for long)! I would be nervous too, but I'm sure she'll be fine and is just entering the completely normal and totally frustrating picky phase. Blech.
We have Will's 1 year appointment today - are they going to tell us no more bottles? I am so nervous for that!!!
Because we're fancy like that.
Hmm. OK. I am so afraid of giving up the bedtime bottle. He is seriously attached to that. Followed closely by giving up the morning bottle. During the day, almost all of the kids in his class at daycare do milk in sippies, so I'm hoping he'll just give in to peer pressure. But we'll see...
