Laughing

Are your LOs laughing yet? All I can get out of DD is "heh heh" if I tickle her. It's not consistant and def. not what I'd consider LOLing. At DD's 4 month check up, the doctor was surprised she wasn't laughing yet and now I'm getting nervous that she's almost 6 months and still not really belly laughing. Pls tell me this is normal.

Re: Laughing

  • Maybe you just haven't found what she really finds funny yet? DS is kind of a serious personality and doesn't laugh much AT ALL. The only time he really does is when we're playing REALLY rough with him, wrestling around, flying him around like an airplane, throwing him in the air. All things that totally freak me out and make me think we'll break him. Oh, and when he pee's on me. He thinks that is hilarious.

DS NEVER laughs when we tickle him. I don't think you should worry about that. :)

DS was like this for awhile. I think he only really started laughing a couple weeks ago, and when he did, it was sort of all of a sudden.  He still makes us work to get a laugh and it seems like he doesn't laugh at the same thing more than once, so I think some kids just don't laugh as much.  DS is super smiley and happy, but just not a belly laugh kind of kid.  I wouldn't worry about it.

  • Mine belly laughs when she's really, really tired (she totally acts high), but most of the time it's just smiles or little giggles.  She's generally very even-tempered though, so it makes sense that she wouldn't laugh for just anything, kwim?

  • Our LO laughs but we have to be really REALLY goofy - like if anyone saw I'd be mortified.

When he's in the bouncer in the bathroom, and I have the towel over my hair above my head, I make funny faces and come really close to his face from standing up and he laughs. Stuff like that. I agree w/PP - maybe he just hasn't found anything to be worthy of that belly roar!

  • DS mostly does the "heh heh" thing too.  He also squeals sometimes.  I haven't really been worried about it yet.  In general, he seems like a happy baby and has been developing normally.
