FIL Vent
I am so pissed off and frustrated right now.
DD and I were going to tag along a work trip of DH's this coming weekend so I scheduled my salon to be closed for six days. The conference was cancelled so instead I scheduled to repaint the salon from ceiling to floor, no small deal but it's been in the works for awhile. Everything had to be removed from the walls, including the shampoo bowl. Everything sitting on the floors had to be removed so the floor could be prepped and painted. The walls had to be patched, some needed a skim coat, and they all had to be sanded. Then prime, woodwork, and four colours of paint plus the floor itself.
FIL just retired from being a painter/contractor, and he said he would help (he would have been really hurt and offended if I hadn't asked anyway). He's not big on prepwork, so I hired somebody to do that part and me/DH/FIL would paint. I talked to him the first weekend in June and we set dates for him to come up from San Antonio- Wed/Thu this week. The floor has to cure 72 hours and has to be done last, so Thu was doable but pushing it. I scheduled the prep work. Confirmed with FIL. I spent all last week packing and moving things into our garage. DH spoke with FIL on Monday, apparently he made a Dr's appt for Thursday mid-morning (as in, today). He said he'd come up after. DH and I moved the furniture last night. The shampoo bowl was taken down. ?The place was prepped today. FIL called and said he was coming tomorrow AM.?
*deep breaths, mar, deep breaths* If we start right away he can prime first thing (he, not we, because I'll have all three kids), can paint ceiling and woodwork 5 hours later, tape everything the next morning, etc, etc, and for my Tuesday client I'll just have to move only my hydraulic chair in and make sure we both wear soft soled shoes....
He just called and said he can't leave until tomorrow afternoon. WTF. I can't RESCHEDULE this stuff! I can't even reschedule my Tuesday client because I don't have any openings for two weeks after and it's colour. It costs me a shitton of $$ to be closed, and everything is already taken out so it's not like I can just open up and TRY to fill my books.
DH and I were supposed to go to the coast for the 4th, the only vacation we take all year (besides October of George, but that's with a large group of friends and no family only time), but now that's cancelled because I can't do the farking floors this weekend. Have to move things BACK in, because I need my stuff to work and nowhere to store it without the furniture. Then move it all back out next Friday, paint, and move it all back before I can work the following week.
I seriously have a pit in my stomach and a weight on my chest over this. When I moved into this place in October I would have done it all then, but I got bronchitis and crap the week after I signed the lease, then it was the holiday season (busy), then I was just booked out too far in advance to do it any sooner. IMO it's been looking like crap and it hasn't changed since it was built in 2005 (IOW, it doesn't reflect anything I want it to reflect) and I am so ready to get it taken care of.
Had FIL not committed to helping, I would have planned things differently this week and started doing the work myself. Hell, I could have had the bathroom finished today.
Sorry for being so long, you know I can't make short posts. I'm just so pissed that our coast trip had to be cancelled because of FIL falling through. If I had the $$ I would try to hire the painters to actually paint but I don't, especially since it costs me so much to be closed!!

I'm so sorry. I don't understand people sometimes, ILs or not. I asked my parents to give me 2 days when they could watch DS so that I could paint his room. It's been a year now. They could never commit to 2 days. WTH? Now I'm pregnant and won't be painting anything probably ever again.

Now that it's morning I'm wondering if there is something up with the results of the tests he had done yesterday, and that's why he can't come until this afternoon. I reserve the right to retract my biitching if that's the case, or to remain pissed if it's not.
Even if DH called him it wouldn't help. He'd probably just get pissed and not come at all (which is kinda how I'm leaning just to be PA, but I won't say anything because DD is really excited about her Grandpa coming to visit) or tell DH he had no idea, blahdifuckingblah, even though we spoke about it several times both on the phone and in person.
I think I have it planned out to where all of the wall work will be finished this weekend so I can at least work this week, then DH and I will do the floors first thing next Friday and then last thing next Tuesday we'll replace all the furniture. Still can't go to the coast but we plan to take a couple day trips somewhere else instead.
