Food Allergy

True HEPA Vac

My DD also has environmental allergies.  I am looking for a true, sealed HEPA vac.  We live in a 2 story , 3 bedroom house approx 1800 sqft.  Most of the house is hardwood, but I have a cut pile 14x10 area rug in the living room and a 6x8 shag rug in a bedroom.  The living room is where the kids hang out a lot and it gets filthy.  I was looking at the Miele stick vac, but not sure how it will hold up on carpet.  Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Re: True HEPA Vac

  • FYI-After a ton of research, the Meile line and a $1000 Electrolux are the only true HEPA vacuums without going commerical.  One thing I was unaware of and suprised me is that anyone can slap a HEPA filter on the side of their vacuum and call it HEPA.  The filtration of all other vac don't actually trap the allergen, but rather spray them out into the air while vacuuming.  I am so glad I did this research before I shelled out $400+ on a Dyson like I had originally planned.
