When did you get your period? How many cycles did you wait to start trying? How many cycles did you try before getting your BFP?
I am having my first D&C next week and have no idea what to expect. I know you're supposed to wait at least 2 cycles before TTC again. Just wondering what everyone's experiece has been.
Thanks!
Re: If you had a D&C
I'm very sorry for your loss.
I had my D&C on 11/7/10. I got my first period post D&C on 1/1/11. I got pregnant after that first period, but had a chemical pregnancy on 2/13/11. We conceived this baby two cycles later at the end of April.
GL to you!
ETA: Between my chemical pregnancy and this BFP, I was seen by an RE and underwent testing. We determined that I have PCOS and I was started on Metformin to regulate my insulin response, Clomid to help me O on time, and HCG trigger shot as a final push to help me O. I also started taking baby aspirin every day and progesterone suppositories 3 days after O. I got this BFP on the second medicated cycle.

I'm sorry for your loss.
I actually got my period 4 weeks after the D&C, though it can take much longer. My doctor told me I only had to wait until my 1st period to try again.
It took us 5 cycles to get pregnant again...and actually it was only 4 cycles of trying because on my 3rd cycle I had a hysteroscopy to see if there was anything causing my miscarriages (I had 2 last year) and we couldn't try that cycle.
Some women get pregnant right away and others it takes a while. I used Fertiliad the last 2 cycles and I really feel it helped regulate my cycles since they seemed to be a little messed up after the miscarriages.

I'm sorry you're going through this. When I had my D&C it took about 7 weeks for my period to come back. We waited one full cycle per my doctor's instructions. We had to take one cycle off to get my wisdom teeth removed, and I got my BFP on our fourth cycle TTC. Interestingly, it took 4 cycles to get our first BFP, too.
Best wishes to you for your D&C and recovery.
Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
I bled but did not ovulate 4 weeks after my d&c. Four weeks after that, I had a period and had ovulated that time (at least according to my chart). I was doing acupuncture during this time, and credit that for making my normally-irregular cycles normal. I ovulated on CD 45 the next cycle and got my BFP.
My OB said wait 3 months initially, but then at my 6 week-post-d&c follow up, she said I was physically fine. My RE wanted me to wait until I'd had two periods and my hcg was negative. My OB and RE had varying ideas about what negative was (OB said <5, RE said <2.9 originally, then said 0). Finally it was negative enough for the RE, who said we'd start a med cycle after AF came, but I got my BFP instead.
My BFP cycle was strangely similar to my BFP that ended in the m/c... praying for a better outcome this time. Good luck to you!! So sorry for your loss.

I am very sorry for your loss.
I got my first period about 3 weeks after my D&C. We were told that after that we could start trying. My period was really wonky afterwards and I'm not sure my body was even capable of sustaining a pregnancy that first cycle afterwards (first AF post-D&C lasted 2 weeks, then 2.5 weeks later got another, more normal AF). I got my BFP the cycle after that, so I guess on the 2nd cycle post-D&C.
I would also add that no matter what everyone else's experience is, you should always listen to what your doctor has to say. Usually there is a good reason for how long they tell you to wait before trying again, but always feel free to ask them what that reason is.
Good luck and hopefully we will see you on here soon.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
Doctors will tell you differently on how long you should wait, and I suggest following your doctor's recommendations. My doctor told us at our 2 week follow-up post D&C that we could try again right away. We did, but it took 8 long weeks for me to get AF. And it took 7 months to get pregnant afterwards. But I think it had nothing to do with my D&C--I had ovulation issues and ended up needing Clomid to get pg again. GL!
I am so sorry that you have to go through this! My d&c was 9/15/2010. My doctor advised waiting 2 cycles to start TTC so that is what we did. My period, fortunately, returned after 4 weeks, however after that I found that my cycle was very different in that I ovulated later and had a shorter luteal phase. I highly recommend charting in order to discover what your "new normal" will be. It took us 7 cycles before we got our BFP earlier this month.
My thoughts & prayers are with you as you go through this terrible time.

I had one almost a year ago (July 2nd) and I got my first period 33 days later, my cycles got a little longer than they were prior to the D&C, but not too long. Some women I know from the bump took much longer to get their first period, everyone is different.
We were told to TTA 3 cycles and we did. We TTC two cycles and then had to TTA once more for something unrelated, then got pregnant the 3rd TTCAL cycle, which was 6 months after the D&C.
Talk to your doctor about what to expect, everyone is different, and he/she should give you recommendation on exactly how many cycles to TTA, it varies between patients. For me the D&C was physically very easy, I didn't cramp or bleed much, though some women do. Just make sure you follow your doctor's orders, even though it is so hard to wait, it's important for your health and the health of future pregnancies that you do what you're told.
I am so sorry you are going through this, it's very hard. Good luck when you start trying again.
I'm so sorry for your loss. My d&c at 10 weeks was not horribly painful, even though I was awake during the procedure, and physical recovery was quick. I hope you bounce back quickly. I had a hard time emotionally for several weeks, but it got much easier over time.
My usual cycle length is 27-28 days, and it took me a little longer, 30 days, post d&c to get my period. Pre d&c I O'd right around CD14, but I did O later afterward, especially that first cycle we were TTA (CD20) and the 2 cycles after that that we were TTC (CD16, then CD17). I got pg the second cycle that we TTC, so 3rd cycle post d&c.
Lots of women have wonky cycles after a m/c, so I highly recommend temping and tracking CM or using OPK's afterward to see what your body is up to.
I'm so very sorry for your loss. I hope the D&C and your recovery go smoothly.
I had my D&C on 4/16, got my first period following on 5/15. The first two or three cycles afterwards were MUCH heavier than I'd had before hand, but then went back to normal. We waited 3 cycles to try again, and then we tried for 5 more before this BFP.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
I got my period exactly 30 days after my D&E. I was still like clockwork. I bled for a little over a week after the surgery, and I finally got a negative HPT almost 2 weeks after the surgery.
As far as trying again, the day of surgery, my doctor told me to wait two cycles before trying again, but at my follow-up, she told me to go ahead after 1 cycle (and I got pg right away, luckily.)
First, I am so sorry for your loss. And second, definitely listen to your doctor.
What I want to say is to help give you hope. I was told by my doctor to wait 2 cycles. I got my first period after 5 weeks, and my second 4 weeks later. We then tried and conceived right away...the first time we tried after the m/c. I'm now 6 months in!
I do recommend allowing yourself time to grieve though.
