Ok..so aside from not being able to stomach a third of the amount of food that this woman wants me to, I guess I need some advice on getting more fruits and veggies in my diet (although fruits are sounding better than veggies these days).
Any ideas? Does anyone find smoothies helpful?
Re: Dr. Luke makes me nervous
Meh - I thought her menus were totally over the top. I just made sure I ate a ton of veggies, protein, and dairy. That was it! I stayed away from fruit because I'm IR to start with and was petrified of GD.
How much weight have you gained? Her 20 by 20 rule is a good one.

Ok if you are overweight then I agree with your OB that you shouldn't gain as much.
Have a chat with your OB about it. I don't remember what dr. luke said about overweight girls....
FWIW my OB said I should gain 45lbs plus with twins (i started at 135), I ended up gaining 58 (still toting around 15)

I agree with orange that her recipes are over the top. Just try to eat a lot of protein, veggies and fruit. I could not do this in the first trimester because of nausea, so I focused on it in the second trimester. For protein, I bought some organic protein powder and drank that as a smoothie. Greek yogurt is also a great protein alternative.
For veggies, I'm still not great at getting enough in but I do eat a lot of fruit.
The book scared me too! I'm adding protein pweder to fruit smoothies and it seems to be helping with the nausea (I also do greek yogurt).
most women on here don't follow her diet- just her general weight gain guidlines, and trying to eat as much healthy stuff as you can early on especially - lots of dairy and protein being important.
I took advantage of her advice of having milkshakes to get the added dairy in - almost every single day
I TRIED to gain 24lbs in 24 weeks- and only managed 19 - and that was REALLY trying.... it's not that easy for sure- but do the best you can for nice big babies
#1 - I must be an overachiever b/c I've already gained 20 lbs, LOL. I was just SO hungry for the first tri. It's finally started to taper off a bit so I'm hoping the weight gain will as well.
#2 - KatieBlondie - Are those two pugs I spy in your photo?? I have two pugs as well and just love them to pieces!! Didn't mean to hijack the thread, but I am a crazy pug person so I couldn't help myself
