All of our family is OOT, so we've decided that we will baptise DS2 the weekend that family will be here for DS1's birthday. DS1's birthday falls on a Sunday, and he'll be turning three. Our plan is to baptise DS2 at 11:30, then return to our house for a joint baptism reception and birthday party. Although I'd rather not combine the two events, I'm excited that both of our families will be here for the baptism and birthday and plan to take full advantage of it.
So, my question is regarding how I can make these two separate, yet combined events special for each child. Obviously my little one will not know the difference, but for some reason, I feel bad making the reception a birthday party only. Should I do two separate invitations? Should I combine them into one? Maybe do a double-sided one (baptism on one side, birthday party on the other)?
What about the party itself? Should I do a birthday cake and a baptism cake, or maybe little petit fours? What about decor?
My DH says I'm overthinking this, and I probably am, but would love any of your opinions or ideas.
Thanks!
(Also, it will be mostly adults - I'm guessing 25 adults and 4-6 children, all toddlers or younger).
Re: WWYD re: combo party?
I think a combined celebration is perfect. You could do something preppy and classic for the invties and decor: (google terms like classic, preppy, stylish until you see something you like, think ralph lauren ad.)
OR - I am probably being random but noah's ark is a bible story and could be fun- it's usually a twin/shower theme but since there are two boys
