So I'm in HR at a call center and anytime someone calls here looking for one of my employees, the front desk transfers it to me. 99.9% of the time it's a bill collector and I tell them I can't transfer the call and they shouldn't call that person here anymore as this is a place of business, etc.
So today my phone rings and it's a guy with a very thick accent (like I had trouble understanding him quite a bit), claiming he's calling from the federal government, asking for an employee. I give him my normal speech and he calls me a b!tch. Huh? I wasn't sure I heard him correctly so I repeated myself, he then called me a b!tch again and then a "stupid lady." He told me I was going to lose my job if I didn't transfer the call. I asked him where he was calling from and he said "the federal government department." I asked him department of what? He replied "financial fraud investigations." He then told me if I disconnected the call, I'd lose my job. I asked him for his supervisor's name and his name - he told me his name was Officer Chris Martin. Um, yeah. Sure it is. The "officer" part killed me. He then called me a "mother f*cker!" I told him to have a nice day and hung up. Unbelievable!
Re: Funny phone call I just got at work
Prior to starting my own business, I used to be in HR full-time as well. I used to get calls like that all the time. It is unreal how bill collectors think they can be so rude and get some where by lying! Unreal!!!!!!! At least you didn't go off on him. That would have been a great recorded phone call. Mr. Officer I think you need to review your ethical code again because you are in violation of it!!
Thank you for the laughter!
What nonsense. It is crazy what people will say behind the protection of the telephone.
I remember that an account called me a "mean lady" on the phone once. I almost had to hang up because I was trying not to laugh. What grown women says that?
That would be EPIC!
