Two Under 2

how did #1 do with #2 having a bottle and #1 not

So we have almost completely weaned DD off bottles, she gets one for bedtime and one in the middle of the night (it's the only way she'll go back to sleep). I hope to have her completely off the bottle before #2 arrives. Now I'm worried with being newly weaned how she is going to react seeing new baby having bottles all day.

How did your LO do with the new baby having bottles and them not? Any tips?

#1 was still getting nighttime bottles up until about a month ago. I wanted to wean before #2 came, but chickened out. We finally went cold turkey & it was no big deal! Sometimes he picks her bottles up & tries to chew on the nipple, but that's more teething than anything. Take the plunge! GL!

  • easy. we had DS to one 8oz bottle of whole milk in the evening when DD came. We dropped the bottle the first month she was born (when he was doing much better with the sippy) and he was fine. Sometimes he'd take DDs bottle to shake it and play with it, but he never tried to drink out of it or anything.

  • My daughter was still on the bottle when my son was born. She was down to 2 a day the morning and the night. After a month I took them away and she didnt even look back. She should pick up the bottle and try and feed the baby. She is a very easy baby. Hope it works out for you.
  • DS had been off bottles long before DD was born but he still takes them and says "Baby!" and tries to drink ouf of them if he gets into her cooler after we get hom from daycare, LOL (they are empty).  It's funny.  I just let him do whatever makes him happy. I'm sure it will work out just fine for you.  GL!

  • L still had the occasional bottle after C was born, and fraeked out thw first time we tried to give C a bottle, but after that she was cool. She was using bottles and sippies interchangeably so it wasn't difficult to switch her to sippies completely. Now the only problem we have is after C is done with her bottle, we have to snatch it up r ight away, otherwise L will kwwp sticking it in C's face.
