Trying to Get Pregnant

newbie - need advice please

My husband and I decided in December to throw away the BC and see what happened. Fast forward to June and I told him that I thought that since it hadn't happened that I would start temping and see if that could help. He asked if I thought if we tried this and it didn't work should we get tested in December or wait until the following june because we were not "Actively trying" and that would be a year of trying. If nothing happens should we get the tests done in December or wait?

Thanks

  • There are probably differing opinions on this.  But if you have been off of birth control and using nothing else as any form of birth control, and have been having sex regularly for the purpose of making a baby since December... I say December is your year mark.

    I agree with this 100%

  • I went to the Dr after trying for only five months but that was b/c I wasn't ovulating (but I also needed my yearly PAP, so I combined my IF questions with that appt)

If you are Oing every cycle then I think you should wait until you hit the year mark. If you suspect a problem (like me, I was anov for three months in a row) then go.

Def temp. If I didn't temp then I wouldn't have known I wasn't Oing. Temping teaches you about your body/cycles.

    GL.

Yes Another vote for this. If you've gone through twelve months of actively trying with no success, then go to the doc. Temping is a great idea - most ladies here recommend charting BBT on the Fertility Friend website - you can sign up by clicking on any of our tickers. Good luck to you!
