My DH & I like to go to the gym and workout. We do things like eliptical and treadmill so thats not too strenuous. However, we also do lift weights a little too. While we are TTC do you think I could continue to lift small 5-8 lbs weights or should I avoid weights all together? I really dont want to avoid them but I dont want to cause more harm either.

Working out while TTC is perfectly fine. 5-8lb weights won't do anything bad to you.
No joke, I am still benching my 70lbs and leg pressing 110. I will cut down on the workouts once I am KU but until then the Dr. said it was completely fine to work out. She did say to lay off the hot yoga during the 2WW because the high temp changes in your body can affect implantation.
4th BFP-August 2014- Due May 12, 2015
I work out 5-6 days a week for over an hour each time. Elliptical, spinning, running, swimming, lifting. I lift 15-20lbs while working out arms/back and about 115 legs. According to my doctor as long as I am not doing anything insanely more difficult than my body is used to it is totally fine.
A friend of mine was training for, and completed an Ironman not even knowing she was 5 weeks and is now a healthy 30 weeks pregnant.
If you are a fit, active person, continuing to be a fit active person should not harm TTC in any way from the info I have gathered

This is what i've heard as well.
Hi there. I understand your overly cautious attitude
I triple checked with my OBGYN at my preTTC appointment almost a year ago. She said I may not want to run as much as I did (I was previously a half marathoner--but was looking for a way out anyway) She said as long as I'm not running more than 25 miles/week I'd be totally fine. Weights are fine, yoga is fine, as PP said, hot yoga is not so good, as temp increases could cause difficulties.
HTH!
OP: all of the above (not just the bold part).
WorkinWeezel: Re: the bold part. I hadn't heard that before, do you know why? Just curious, and good to know! Thanks

I'm being serious right now, maybe it's because of a fear of mine- That I'll be at the gym working out, I'll do a squat with weights and my water will burst all over the floor. No joke once I am pregnant this is an irrational fear that I have haha!!
4th BFP-August 2014- Due May 12, 2015
A gallon of milk weighs about eight pounds. If you worry about avoiding the small weights during a workout, you will want to avoid carrying a gallon of milk as well.
I think the small weights will be fine! But I suppose it is a personal decision.
To be honest, I have NO idea! I didn't ask either, nor did I stop...

LOL I can understand that. Once you hit that 38/39/40 week mark, you're hoping ANYTHING will make SOMETHING happen!!!

Thanks to everyone who answered! I was kind of wondering about the workouts myself. I normally do boot camp twice a week, abs once a week, and the treadmill whenever I can, but I have been slacking off on the bootcamp because I just didnt know.
Do you know how many things you lift on a daily basis that weigh that much or more? Laundry, grocery bags, a gallon of milk, a cat...what if you had a baby? Would you stop holding her?
Just be smart and listen to your body. If it feels like it's too much, stop.
I currently do boot camp 3 x a week and would continue even when I became pregnant. My doctor also told me it's fine to continue running. There was a pregnant woman who used to kick my arse in the body pump class at my gym. I think you're safe.

Yeah, I see pregnant women at my crossfit gym that are definitely putting more than 30lbs over their head in their third tri. They're not doing box jumps and stuff like that anymore, that much I know... Interesting.
