we're having the hardest time picking girl names. today, we decided we both like Elise, but i can't think of a good middle name to go with it. any suggestions?
Mom to: Miles (6 year old Maine C00n mix), Boots (5 year old Lab mix), Darla (4 year old GSD/Collie mix), Frankie (1.5 year old DSH mix), Peanut (15 months old - 09/11), and Bean (arriving Feb 2013).

i'm not big on naming the kid after anyone still alive. just seems weird to me. there are some family names i like all right, but they don't seem to fit with this name.

DD's name is Elise so I think you've picked a great name
Her middle name is Isabelle after DH's grandmother.
that's really pretty.
Thanks. I would have never considered Isabelle if it wasn't a family name but very quickly started to love it with the name Elise. I saw other people posted the names Noelle and Vivienne, those are both really pretty too! I love both of those names.
I love LOVE the name Rose and we highly considered it if we had a girl but ultimately decided on my first name choice (a family name I've had at the tippity top of my girl name list my entire life- even before I realized it is a family name) and DH's Grandma's middle name as the middle name. We will still use this if #2 is a girl. I can't let it go. If we ended up with twin girls (which I've always wanted), I would absolutely use the name Rose as I see it as a little nod to my mom. It wasn't her name, but her favorite color was red. I only recenly learned that it is not the "norm" to have laundry separated into three color categories (lights, darks and reds) because she loved red so much.
