I am new here and in my first 2ww. I'm a teacher so I am home, analyzing my temps, looking up everything I can think of baby related, and singing my Tom Petty theme song. I am glad that it is summer but maybe I would be less crazy if I was at work every day ![]()
Does anyone have any suggestions of how to ignore the "symptoms" or does that just come with time?
Also, do you test early or wait the full 14 days? I've noticed that on FF if you look up the charts that resulted in a pregnancy many of them got their first + on DPO 10.

Welcome and GL! Hopefully you will get lucky on your first cycle!
As far as advice, I think the waits get easier as time goes on. The first wait was the worst for me. I analyze every.single.little symptom and look at my charts a million times a day. Just try to do something to keep your mind off it. Esp. since you have the summer off, try a new hobbie. Anything to keep your mind busy is good.
I'm guilty of testing at 11 DPO this past cycle. I felt sick and had high temps so I figured I'd go for it (resulted in a negative, obviously). BUT, I'm gonna say I'm going to wait the full 2 weeks on the next cycle. There is a HPT accuracy chart in the newbie link. Some women have a hard time seeing a BFN, so testing early is not advised. You can by ICs (internet cheapies) if you are a POAS-aholic and like testing early, which can save you lots of $. Try to resist!
Again, GL!
Welcome! I'm new here too - and a teacher, so I can definitely relate to the waiting being more difficult when work is out. Although I'm only on cycle 3 of trying, I agree that it does get easier. Little by little, I've stopped overanalyzing every symptom and twinge and generally driving myself crazy. Well, mostly...
I lurked a lot around here, and have started posting, but I'm also trying to use my summer to complete projects, take up some hobbies, read some books, see friends, and yes, plan for next year (sigh). It helps to stay busy!
Good luck to you!
Thanks ladies! I think just talking about feeling crazy about it is a help. I only have one friend who knows I am TTC and she thinks I?m over-thinking all this by temping and charting. My husband doesn?t want to know all the details either!
Belizelovers: I didn?t realize that all of my knot info was still in my siggy! I LOVED Belize and our wonderful stress-free wedding there! I looked at a map and think we must have gotten married right in the same area! Maybe Hopkins Village is even where we went to get our paperwork signed?? I hope we will go back for a big anniversary
AnoraStar: That is EXACTLY how I am! I think I can handle the BFN and have a good stash of HPTs from my Publix clearance aisle. They decided not to carry a certain brand anymore and put them all on the rack. I had coupons to use with them and paid $5 to as low as $0.50 for a box! I may have to look into getting some online though as I?m sure I?ll be an early tester.
ChicagoLola: Ah, another teacher! Another reason I am so anxious ? planning for a Spring to Summer break maternity leave!!
