help me with wording for bridal shower invite

My sister lives in LA, but I'm having a shower for her here in Austin. I'm trying to think up wording for the invite stating something about how she's traveling and to mind that when considering gifts. My brain isn't working right now and I need help, any suggestions?

  • I would just prepare to mail the gift to her house. I don't know that there is any tactful way of saying "Please ship presents to her house or bring a gift card" :-)

  • yeah - i think i've come to terms with the fact that it's tacky. i figure most people should know that she's not local anyway... thanks :)
  • Right I would think people would take that into consideration, but some people will want to see her open it.
  • We have to deal w/ this a lot when traveling home over the holidays and/or either of the boys b-day.

Rather than shipping gifts out to her, plan to return them to the store (hopefully, they'll purchase off her registry) and she can repurchase once back in LA.

  • I've known people who were in this situation who returned gifts right after the shower (particularly if they were big, had a receipt, and/or were on the registry) and then re-purchased the exact same items once they were back where they lived.

If anyone asks, you could suggest they ship the gift directly to her house and then wrap up a picture of the gift for the shower itself. I would not volunteer this information as it would be a little bit tacky/rude.

Hopefully, people will take her location into consideration. As a PP said, I would plan on shipping at least one box of presents back to her. Shipping a large box via the post office is not that expensive if you opt for the slow delivery time rather than the 2 to 3 day shipping they push.

  • Can you just mention it when people RSVP?

My mom and I decided that this is what we're going to do.
