DH and I both really like the name Ty. (Wonder of wonders, we agree on a name!!) However, it seems too short and/or nickname-y to me. We have thought we could name a boy Antony (not Anthony) in honor of MIL, who is Antonia, and have the NN Ty, but neither of us like Antony as much as just plain Ty.
What do you think?
Re: Is this a legit name?
The only Ty I've ever known used it as a NN for Tiberius, which I think is an awesome name.
I don't prefer it as a standalone name.
Thanks! Haven't sold any yet... but keeping my hopes up!!
You might be interested to know that the reason we chose Antony over Anthony is because in DH's native language, they don't have the "th" sound, so it's really hard for DH and his family to make that sound. :-)
NMS. And I have cousins with both names.
In my opinion, yes, it's legit!
We are having a girl but if boy he was going to be named Ty David.
We like the simplicity of Ty but at the same time it's a very strong/masculine name.
I think both are good names and not very common so he wouldn't have 3 or 4 others growing up with the same name. Taye is my fav out of the 2 thought My nephews name is Tai (pronounced the same as Ty) incase you wanted a different spelling to it.
I usually like short names but Ty is just incomplete to me,.,,
How about Tyler and call him Ty?
Tiberius is a pretty awesome name! I'm actually thinking of convincing DH to flip DS's name so we can call him Ty.
OP, I know a Tyler and a Tyson that go by Ty. I also know a couple of just plain Tys.
I have a little cousin named Ty. He's 2 or 3. Tyler and Timothy are also full name options for Ty. That's all I got off the top of my head.
