Trying to Get Pregnant

How long would you wait?

So as some of you may remember, I stopped my Depo shot in November and still no AF yet. I know most people here haven't been on Depo....but how long would you wait before calling the Dr? I'm going on 8 months now....and truthfully, I'm getting impatient, I want to get this show on the road!

Re: How long would you wait?

  • I would have called a long time ago if I were in your situation. I probably would have called the Doc after 2 months without AF.

I don't have much experience about your situation, but from what I've read on here, the Dr. can give you a shot to get AF to start.

Regardless, you should call your doc about this.  Good luck!

No direct experience with Depo, but 8 months seems like an awfully long time.  I would at least call the Dr. and see if they feel like you should be checked out.

I probably would have called months ago.

  • Definitely give the dr. a call ASAP. I don't have experience with Depo either, but 8 months seems like a really long time without AF

Definitely this. Good luck, I hope the dr. can get you on the right track!

I actually haven't had a period since March 2010...it stopped completely when I started the Depo (which is common). They say it can take 12-18 months to get completely out of your system, which is why I keep debating on whether or not to call.

  • Call your doc.

  • I was on Depo for a little over 2 years (with no AF the entire time, which like you said is common) and I remember the dr. telling me the same thing about it taking a long time to get out of your system although I don't remember exactly how long it was for me.  I would still call the dr, though, and let them know you are concerned.  They will either want to see you or can at least reassure you that everything is fine.  Good luck!

  • After 8 months....I would of called a long time ago regardless if they said it takes longer for it to get out of your system or not. If your concerned you should call....never hurts to check in with the Dr. They aren't going to get mad if you call, thats what they are there for.

  • I think if you are debating at all, you should definitely call. The worst that can happen is they tell you there's nothing they can do, but at least you will have an answer and hopefully they can help jump start AF.

  • Well... I think the obvious consensus is to call your doc, so I won't repeat it. I just want to say I hope he/she can bring AF back in check and get you on the right track. Good luck!
