XP: pyloric stenosis

Does anyone else have a LO with pyloric stenosis? DS's pedi thinks he has it. We go monday for an ultrasound and scope to find out for sure. Would like to hear from other moms thats gone through this with their LOs. I feel so bad for DS. I can tell he's in pain.

  • My DS had this. He had surgery two weeks ago. It's scary, but the surgery fixed it. If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer what I can. Feel free to PM me orask here. Good luck.

  • Thanks L&K. Right now, DH and I aren't real sure how to feel. We don't want to get too worried and upset when it might not be pyloric stenosis...but on the flip side, we don't wanna brush it off like it's no big deal either. I just feel so bad for DS. He just cries and cries and it's all I can do to hold it together and not blubber too.

  • We got the diagnosis pretty quickly. DS started spitting up on Monday and that turned to vomiting by Tuesday night, though I was still feeling like it might have been reflux or something I ate. But by Wednesday it was obvious something was wrong. He would eat, fall asleep and then wake up vomiting with in a few min and continue to vomit till he would eat again. We took him to ER when he couldn't keep down pedialyte. They gave us a borderline diagnosis that night after an ultrasound and we were at the surgeon the next morning. I was so worried for him, but once we knew for sure what it was and how "easy" a fix the surgery is we felt a little better. I was still a mess, torn between being glad it was something with a fix and scared that my baby would need surgery. I hope that you get an answer soon, and that everything works out. If it is PS know that though it's not a common problem, the surgery is pretty routine. Our Dr. has do e thousands of them, and it is done laproscopically. I know now that it was harder on me than DS. Sorry for wall of text- on iPhone.
