Cloth Diapering

How do you do naked time?

this morning we woke up with our first real rash (I didn't change her dipe overnight for about 10 hrs, and I usually do, and she was just wet, but anyway, we got lots of naked time just laying on some double layered prefolds after our bath - now I am about to order a dozen of the XL, so that we have more surface area, but I was wondering how other mamas get in some extra air time

Re: How do you do naked time?

  • Towels. My guy is a bit older than your gal, but we do nakey time after bath time each night so that he thoroughly air dries. He'll sit and play on a towel, or hold himself up next to the crib for awhile, or do tummy time on the towel (for easy clean up!)

  • I just lay towels (folded in half) down on the floor. If she pees, I pick it up before it soaks through. I've had to start laying a couple down, side by side, because she loves being nekkid and gets all excited and moves around a lot! Lol!

  • Two towels and a piece of PUL fabric on the floor.

  • Usually a big changing pad or a towel. We have dogs, so carpet accidents aren't really a big deal. If she misses the pad, then I just spray it with some carpet cleaner and clean it up. Maybe that will change when we get new carpet. I hate our carpet.

yeah, she LOVED it, btw :) She also almost rolled over for the first time :)

  • I put him in the crib and figure that if he soaks the sheet, I have more/can do laundry.

    love the PUL fabric!

  • If I just want to do it for a short time I put down a towel and then a waterproof lap pad I got from Target.  If I want to do it for a while since she has a rash I put down a Tucks pad.  I love using tux pads especially since they have a lot of surface area and you don't have to worry about them moving!

  • I just let her go and clean up any accidents. We have hardwood floors all over so its no biggie to wipe up. The one time she pooped was a fun day.

haha... I was kinda worried about this :)

  • Someone suggested laying a prefold in her high chair during meals. I just tried it at lunch and it worked like a charm.

Hm.  I might try this for bananatime tonight.  I wanted to put DS in a flat diaper for practice eating solids, but DH was opposed.  I mostly didn't want to have to clean banana off my good diapers.

This is what I do too, or a folded towel.  I also use some big waterproof pads to give her nakey time during nap time in her crib if she is looking pretty red/irritated. We've only had that issue a couple of times. I won't do this at night because a.) that would be a LOT of pee and b. she rolls around a lot at night (not during nap time though) so it would be all over her (ewwww) and c.) she would probably get cold.  But for a short nap, no prob.

  • We went to JoAnn Fabrics and got some yardage of waterproof cotton. It was ~$12 and she could roll all over it. I'd have prefolds on hand to wipe up puddles as they happened so she could keep rolling.

I do this at dinner time every night. Works great!

This. We put about 4 changing pads together to make a big surface area. Then when he pees, we change out one of the pads rather than the entire towel.

But the other night DH was in charge of naked time, and he put an empty trash bag under a towel and that worked fine too.
