Hey ladies,
I don't usually post to often but I really need some help. I have found 3 spiders in our house in the last 2 days...my SIL brought over 6 boxes of baby clothes that had been stored in her garage for a over a year so I think that's where they came from. Anyway my hubby wants to do a bug/spider bomb on Friday since we'll be out of town over night. But we're worried this might not be safe while I'm pregnant. Does anyone have any experience with this or know if there's a safe brand to use or alternative? I'm worried about the chemicals being on the carpet, couch, clothes, etc. I've goggled it and gotten some mixed reviews. Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
Re: safe to spider/bug bomb?
I work for a pest control company. There is NO WAY I would be ok with a bug bomb in my house right now. No way. Pesticides and chemicals have very strict regulations about their use and the levels of risk they are associated with. How do you know about the products in that bomb?
Call a professional. Let them know you are pregnant. They will know how to provide the best possible treatment without putting you at unnecessary risk. I would also recommend finding a company that can say that they are a "Quality Pro Certified" company -- it's like the good housekeeping seal for pest control companies that means they are held to standards other company's may not be following.

Some spiders are the best insects you can have in your home as they are natural pest control. But, an increase in spider population correlates to an increase in their prey's population.
If it's really getting out of control, I'd call a professional and say at least three times that I'm pregnant.
Let me add, I wouldn't be ok with spiders in my house either! Spider bites are painful and can cause their own health concerns.
Spiders can be very difficult to control, so even if you do use a bug bomb (and please dont) it might not kill them anyway. You need someone who can identify the right product to use, at the right amount, applied to the right place in the most responsible manner possible. And for that you need a professional. And like I said, not just any professional - find one who knows what they are doing.
If you talk to a pest professional who says "the only way to eliminate spiders is to eliminate their food source (other pests)" -- find another service.
