TTC after 35

Holy horrendous FSH/E2 results

I was happy for a few hours following my IVF consult. But nothing good seems to last for long with IF. I just got my CD3  FSH/E2 results that were drawn on Sunday. Ready for this:  FSH 17.3  E2 82.  ARGH....

I am so depressed. I can't believe how much it went up since January and how bad it is. I can still do IVF as my hospital will cycle up to FSH of 30 but my hopes for success just got destroyed...

I'm so sorry.  I know that's not what you wanted to hear.  I hope you'll be surprised and respond well to the stims.

Ignorance was bliss. I only had the test run this cycle since my old RE told me I needed a clomid challenge for insurance and my new RE/staff confirmed I don't need it.

  • I am SO very very sorry. I remember when I failed my Clomid Challenge with a high fsh and how incredibly down I was. I know how bad this feels and I just want to lend you a bit of support during this difficult time.

The good news is that you are headed straight to IVF and they will be able to get the best eggs out of you that they possibly can. Many, many women in AMA have success with IVF and try to remember that only one is necessary.  Until then, keep up with that wheat grass, royal jelly, and DHEA. Allow yourself to feel your emotions and then try and do something which makes you feel better as an individual. When my high FSH came back I started taking lots of walks and baths to try and de-stress. If you are open to it, the Dr. might be willing to give you something to calm your nerves, but of course this is a personal decision.

Many of us have dealt with these bad results and know what a difficult moment this is. My heart is with you.

  • One more thought: FSH jumps around A LOT in us DOR ladies. This could have been an unusual cycle. My acupuncturist always reminds me to not let one test affect me too much.

  • I'm sorry about those results. Try not to let it shake your hope, though. You knew you were DOR heading into this week. Yes, perhaps you are a more severe case than you thought, but you also know it's still possible with IVF. All you, and any of us, can do is hope. Hugs.

  • I'm so sorry about your test results, McIrish.  But I agree with the ladies, and I am sending positive thoughts your way.  As long as you still meet the requirements for IVF, I like to think that there is every reason to think that this IVF course is going to be the one that results in a Baby McIrish.  Plus, the message from Mrs. Jordan Almond really should give us all hope!!  Hang in there.

  • I know how depressing it is to hear this kind of stuff at first (I was devastated after hearing my AMH), but as a PP said, you know FSH fluctuates.  In addition to MrsJordanAlmond's message, let me remind you that my AMH is half what yours is and that I'm two years older than you are--and I still responded great to the stims.  So I think you have every reason to expect a great result!

  • I hope this makes you feel a little better too.  On May 18th I had my fsh tested because I had takien the first response fertlity test and it indicated high fsh.  My fsh was 17.1.  My doctor gave me the speech about how I had only a 15 % chance of getting pregnant without help.  I went home that day depressed telling my husband well it's over.  That very cycle I got my BFP no meds or anything.  The only thing we did diffrent that month was my doctor had me take prometrium from cd 16 on (because I was having short cycles).  The prometrium should not have done anything for my fsh although I do think it helped with my lining as I have very light periods.  I am a huge pessimist and thought for sure it was all over for me.  So you just never know I guess.
