Trying to Get Pregnant

GTKY - First names!

I'm a little bored. .. so ladies -

If you could change your first name to anything, what would it be and why??

Mine would be Brandy. My parents narrowed it down to 3 - Brandy, Abigail and Victoria.

My dad wanted Brandy because of the song "Brandy" (You know..the one that goes Music Brandy, you're a fine girl, what a good wife you would be. But my love, my life and my lady is the sea Music So if I could change my name it would be to Brandy. I love that name.

And, if DH and I ever have a girl, her name will be Abigail. My mom wanted Abigail so badly that each of my 3 younger sisters were also going to be named Abigail, but family situations came about each time she was pregnant and they named all 3 of my little sisters after family members that had passed away.

Re: GTKY - First names!

  • I think I would choose Emma, I really like that name.

  • Alyssa - Named after the flower Alyssum..at least that's what my mom told me.  I would not change it.
  • Wow you have some interesting family history with baby names!

I don't know if I would even change my name! I've really grown to like it. Although, my mom thought about naming me Erin, but it was the real name of a girl who was an actress at the time (same last name) and she didn't want me to feel like I was named after her for some reason. But I think Erin is a pretty name nonetheless... I've always wondered what would be different if they had named me Erin instead of Meghan :)

ETA: I wondered what would be different if they named me ERIN, not ERIC lol.

Ok really though, I don't think I would.  But if I absolutely had to, like if I was going into witness protection or something... I would choose Olivia or Livia and go by Liv.  I am loving the name Liv right now, but it is not a family name so I will not use it for any future children.

  • Mine would be Olive.  Like Olive Oil from Popeye.  I know it sounds funny but everyone called me Olive Oil as a teenager and I grew to like the name Olive.

I wasn't crazy about my real name since a huge celebrity has the same exact one, first and last, but now that I am married I feel a little more normal but much more spanish thanks to H's last name.

Oh and H does not like the name Olive at all, so no DD named Olive over here.  We have such a spanish last name that Olive would just sound ridiculous with it.  :(

  • I always wanted my middle name, Marie, to be my first name since my first name and my maiden name are super common. When I filled out those credit card applications to get free stuff in college I put Rebecca Johnson on all of them.
  • I really like my name but if I had to change it I would choose to be named Megan. Simple and classic :) If it would have been up to my dad, my name would be Roxanne! I definitely don't think I have the personality to be a Roxanne...I'm definitely a Jessica!

I would change my name to the smug face symbol :/  and then people would have to call me that TTGPer formerly known as Sand.

I would change my first name to Meridian if I could.  Its the name of the town my grandfather lived in, and I've always thought it was beautiful.  I use it as one of my primary internet screen names (besides Sekura).  My real name is Janice, which I hate; I go by Jan.

  • While my name (Jessica) is so not original, and because it's so common, I really don't mind it.  Just not Jessie...Not a Jessie over here.  My mom almost named me Rebecca, and I get called that A LOT surprisingly by people that have forgotten my name.  Maybe that's a sign...
