He changes his mind ALWAYS. I can't stand it! I have my top 5 and he said yesterday that he's over one, doesn't like another too much, thinks another is "too soft" and he can't hear it on a grown man (I totally disagree)...so I'm losing my mind. I know I have time so I'm not that upset or anything, but it's crazy frustrating. Currently the ONLY names he likes for our son are Caleb and Jordan. I have zero problems with either but I don't LOVE them. Caleb is definitely unique and not popular at all. Jordan I think is a great name but isn't as strong or as different as I want it to be. I'd cry tears of joy if my husband would just say yes to Jonah, but he won't budge as of now.
Caleb or Jordan? Do they make you gag? Do they do anything for you?
Re: I'm going to hurt my husband!
Caleb for sure.
Jordan is too modern/unisex for me.
Baby Name Popularity by State
I would never consider Caleb to be "unique and not popular at all." It's been in the Top 40 for at least the last 11 years (I didn't look any further). That said, I still like it better that Jordan. If you're not in love with either of them, I'd keep looking. No need to settle right now.
ETA: Here is the SSA data on Caleb for the last 20 years. It's gone no lower than #78 (that was in 1991).
yea the unisex thing annoys me. i miss when boy names were JUST boy names.
I know of at least 3 little Calebs and 4 little Jordan/Jordyns (boys and girls). Both names are pretty popular, at least around here!
Caleb is NMS but it's a totally reasonable name, and I know kids and adults who wear it well. On the other hand, I cannot stand Jordan and feel like it is way trendy, even when spelled correctly. If you like it, however, it's a legit name.
Jonah is by far the best of the three IMO.
PS: Get him to try Nymbler if he hasn't already?
in comparison to jordan caleb is definitely more unique. i've never met a caleb in my life. but you're right i'm not in love with either. i like them but don't love them. i just meant that in my state caleb is way down on the top 100 list while jordan is #52 (which isn't even all that popular anyway).
he spent an hour online looking up names. difficult doesn't begin to describe him! i'll give it another shot.
This exactly. With all the Jordan/Jordyn/Jordynn/Jordon/Jorden's I have seen for both boys and girls I severely dislike this name.
I'm partial to Kaleb because that is my youngest DS name and if this one was a boy it would have been Calvin. I think Caleb was pretty popular in the early 2000 but my son has only ran into another Caleb a few times. One was older in his cubscouts and another is in the same grade as he but different class. I feel it would be less for a child born in 2011/2012 because the name has dropped significantly.
I think Jordan is very unisex these days. You don't seem completely sold on either name so maybe just stew on it a bit and maybe you will change your mind or you guys will come up with another name you both like alot.
i like the name Caleb
I think I'd add that to my list if we didn't have a family friend with the same name
kaleb is very cute, too. i do like that spelling. i'm not sold, you're completely right. since my husband really doesn't go for the names i LOVE i'm trying so hard to be okay with others, you know?
