Temping experiment...

This weekend we'll be sharing a hotel room with a bunch of other couples.  I'm not going to take my temp while another couple is snoozing in the bed next to us, so I tried an experiment yesterday.

I woke up, took my temp right away as usual, then got up, went pee, walked back to bed and took my temp again.  It only went up .01 in that window of time after movement, so I'm going to assume if I get up and take my temp in the bathroom for privacy this weekend, the temp I get should be reasonably accurate still.

Has anyone else tried this?  I was worried that getting up and walking would totally throw off my temps, but it doesn't appear to change things much.  Just thought I'd share my findings.

That is interesting. I did that once, but I am not sure how accurate it was.  I was also sleep deprived and woke up like 3 hours after my normal temp time... (I was spending the weekend with some girlfriends and we were up all night.)

I would personally just skip that day. It won't be an accurate temp if you're up and out of bed.

I would try it for a few more days and see if you get the same results.  Your temps could fluctuate quite a bit from day to day also.  Hope it works for you this weekend!

I might try it a few more times to see what kind of results I get.  We spend a lot of time in the summer with friends, crashing on air mattresses, etc and I was concerned about missing an O day temp...of course, in the grand scheme of things, it will all work out after a few more temps.

I did temp before getting out of bed, so I have the "accurate" temp for that day to use on my chart.  The second temp was just done to see how much it supposedly goes up when I start moving around (for me it was a negligible amount - .01)

I meant the night you're with your friends. Even though you might only be off by .01 when you did your experiment, that doesn't mean it will be the case every time.

I tried this a few times and had the same temp, even after going to the bathroom, getting dressed etc it's been exactly the same. I guess some people aren't as sensitive to that kind of thing. But then this morning, I opened my mouth to say something to DH while I had the thermometer in, and then took it again immediately after in case talking made a difference, and it was .2 lower when I had been talking. Oops.
