soothies vs other pacifiers?

any input on whether you should stick w/soothies at first or are any pacifiers ok? i meant to ask the pedi that today and forgot.thanks!

    It doesn't matter. Whatever works for your baby. My DD will take anything now. It wasn't until she was 3 months did she really start liking it.

    Liev can't keep a Soothie in his mouth, it just falls out.  We have tried a few types of pacifiers and now he will only take the Avent orthodontic ones.  We use the 0-3 size.

     

    Medically speaking, I don't think it makes a difference.

    our hospital gave us gumdrop pacifiers and DD loves them.  I had two orange ones from the hospital and ordered two pink ones from the gumdrop website.

    Use whatever your baby likes.  When my DD was newborn she spit out the Avent pacifiers but loved the Soothies.  Now she doesn't like any of them.

    DS had his Soothie in the NICU for 9 days, we brought it home and used it...now he won't take anything else!  It's just your preference.

    It depends on if you're going to BF. If you're bfing I'd reccomend a pacifier with a flat side. It's more like the nipple when they suck on it and it makes it easier to transition between nursing and using the pacifier. DD had a hard time nursing untill I took her soothie away and gave her a platex pacifier with a flat side to the nipple.

    DS wouldn't take the soothie at the beginning but now the last 1.5 months they are the only ones he likes.
