For the past week I have been having trouble sleeping and it has really been messing with my chart. This is my first cycle temping and if I would wake up in the middle of the night I would temp and then try to go back to sleep. I didn't want to wait until my regular time (6am) since often I would wake up at 4 or 5 and would not have had a full 3 hours sleep. Because of this my chart is filled with open circles. I recently vowed to only temp and 6 since usually I am able to fall back asleep very quickly. This worked well Monday night however last night I woke up at 3:15/3:20 and didn't temp thinking I would fall right back asleep. Wrong. At 4 I was still wide awake and frustrated so I temped then. I never fell back asleep so at 6 I didn't even bother. My question is...should I completely disregard my temp since I had been up for almost a full hour?
Re: Should I disregard today's temp?
I would go ahead and enter it, then mark sleep deprived on your chart. Thats just me though.
FWIW I had huge issues sleeping my first month or two of temping too, eventually I got used to it and my sleep went back to normal. GL
Im having the same issues with a 5AM temp time. I often wake up at 3 and wont fall back to sleep or if I do its for an hour or so.
I don't get up, or even sit up, so as long as I fall back to sleep before 4 I temp at 5 and mark sleep deprived. If I wake up after 4, (within an hour of my normal time) I temp then and just mark the new time.
This seemed to be working well until last night. I temped at 4:15 b/c I was awake enough I didn't think I'd fall back to sleep - temp was 97.14. I did fall back asleep and decided to just temp and see what it was at 5 (expecting it to be higher). It was 96.58 at 5AM. Now I am utterly confused and think I am going to take the advice to get up at 3AM next cycle
This. I have had my usual wake up and temp time at 530a but I found myself waking up almost every night somewhere in the 4 o'clock hour. I would either temp or just lay very still to try and fall back to sleep. This cycle I decided to make my default time 430a and set my alarm for 5a. That way, if I woke up anywhere in the 4 o'clock hour and temped I would be good. And if I slept all the way through to me alarm, I would still be good. (FF allows a half an hour either way to still give a closed circle.) I have found that this makes me worry less about open circles or closed circles... so I have been sleeping through to my alarm! Before, I was so worried about temping I would wake up thinking I missed the alarm. Now I am more at ease!!
