We're getting a second monitor, sound machine and fan and that's pretty much it. DS will be out of almost everything by the time the second arrives (just shy of 24 months apart). Eventually we'll need another convertible car seat, but we won't need it until DD's at least 4-6 months, so will hold off on that for now. DS has been in a big boy bed (IKEA small bed) for over a month and is doing great with that so no 2nd crib needed. We also no longer use the changing table and haven't for a long time, so DD will get that. Same with a diaper pail - we keep one in the bathroom where we do changes so that will be where DD's diapers go too.
This LO will hopefully go from sleeping in our room to sharing a room with DD, so we are not planning on getting an extra change table and diaper pail. We already have 2 cribs - one is convertible and DD is currently using it as a toddler bed. If we didn't, we'd probably switch DD to a twin size bed. So that's for what's NOT on my list.
Here's what IS on my list:
Sling - I have a baby carrier but I want something more convenient with a newborn because I have a feeling I'll be wearing this one a lot more.
Stroller - I keep going back and forth bewteen a "real" double stroller or a Sit'n'stand type of stroller. ugh.
Bassinet - The one we had with DD was borrowed and we had to return it.
Re: what times do you need double of for #2?
We have kids in diff rooms, so they each need their own fan for white noise & their own music thing.
crib
monitor camera
double stroller
pack n play (because LO1 still used his for naps at the sitter, no more sitter for now so we have one upstairs and one downstairs)
convertible car seat
possibly- high chair
We had a pretty long list of things to buy, but a lot of those were basic room/bedding items that we would have needed to buy anyways.
crib/dresser/bookshelf
toy boxes/baskets for storage
white noise machine
humidifier
sheets
room items (clock, lamp, rug, hamper, trash can, etc...)
diaper pail
We did not need double the changing supplies (table/pad/pail) - we just made one central changing station for both of them.
We do have double:
cribs
monitors
gliders
sound machines
sippy cups
We also have a single and double stroller and will need a second convertible car seat when DD outgrows the infant seat.
