Hey ladies! The last couple days I have had pretty bad dizziness. I actually fainted three times yesterday. I have been keeping hydrated, keeping food on my stomach, and my blood pressure has been fabulous the last couple times I have seen the doctor. I am just concerned because I drive 45 minutes to work each way and am nervous about fainting in the car. I notice that I feel dizzy more when standing up. Long story short... I called to nurses line and she said that I was doing everything right so to stay home (yesterday) and get some rest.. did that and am still having problems. They want me to come in tomorrow if I am still having the problem but honestly I feel like such a complainer.. I am always going in for problems between my apts and they basically tell me "welcome to pregnancy." I am having trouble at work because I have so many appointments and am missing too much time..I cant decide if I should go to my apt or not tomorrow - if I do then I will have to make up more time at work and if I am too late then I get an occurance for being late (I am already over my allowed occurances). I just dont know what the doctor will say and it doesnt seem like she is interested at all in taking me out of work. What do you ladies think or any suggestions?
Re: Dizziness/fainting while pregnant?
I don't have any advice on why you may be dizzy, but I would agree with your concern with driving. I would say the fainting isn't normal. I got the same symptoms from heat exhaustion, but that doesn't sound like your scenario.
What I do know a little about though is pregnancy discrimination. I'm going through a case right now and the laws very state by state. In my state (MI) you can't expect additional considerations for pregnancy related appointments than for other types of medical appts. and call foul if they aren't granted. I know it seems unfair, but if you're concerned about health vs. job, it may be time to discuss the situation with your supervisor and/or human resources dept. to see what they will allow with regards to time off. For example, will they let you take the time unpaid?
