3rd Trimester

34 weeks, not sure if BH or real contrax?

I am not sure what's going on right now.  I don't want to be overly paranoid.  I have been having some painful BH for about a week, and I really over did it this weekend.  I am now in some pretty constant discomfort, but I am not sure if it's the baby's position, BH, or real contrax.  Anyone experience this and go to L&D?  What do they do if you just show up in L&D?  (My baby is footling breach right now, and she's my second.  I don't have much room for error if I go into real labor as I'll need an immediate CS.)  Any personal experiences are appreciated! Thanks!

BH can be painful (there times when I have to stop what I'm doing to breathe through them), but if it really concerns you, put in a call to your doctor. Better safe than sorry, right? :)  GL

  • First step--call your OB and see what they recommend. While waiting for a callback, drink a TON of water and see if that helps.  Even if you are drinking the standard 64 ounces or more of water a day, pregnant women can get dehydrated very easily which can bring on contractions.  I had really bad cramping (like menstrual cramps) in my belly and back that pulsed down accompanied with a stronger tightening feeling that occurred periodically. This only lasted for a morning and I called my OB and she told me to go to L&D to be monitored.  Turned out, I was in preterm labor.

I'd probably wait to hear back from your doctor but the only way you'll know for sure is to go to L&D.

     GL!
