Toddlers: 24 Months+

hitting, pinching & biting--Oh My!

DS turned two today! Yah!! However, the last few days he has begun hitting me, pinching me, and biting me right after each other.  He has been a hitter for the past few months but we have been working really hard on it and we thought it was over. We went to two parties two weekends ago and he didn't hit at all. Then he was sick for over a week. And now he's doing these behaviors. How do I stop this? Today at the store, he scratched my face and left a mark. I took him on the train at the mall today. WHile on the train , he looked at me, pinched me, I said No hurting Mommy. Then he tried hitting me and bitiing me. So frustrating.! Any advice please! TIA

I'm a fan of timeouts.  I've had to use them since DS was a little over 1.  I've even used them when we are out in public if he does something really naughty. I don't give a warning now for hitting, kicking, biting or pinching, he knows its wrong so he immediately gets a timeout.  We also got a book called "Ouch, biting hurts" to reinforce the message.  A lot of kids seem to start that behavior around 2.
