Ellie has a really cute sippy cup with a straw and I have been told cups with straws are better then just regular sippy cups so I let her try it this weekend and she loved it! At first I gave her water and she drank everything up next I put my BM in it and she drank that up too! So I was thinking what the hell get ride if the bottle and just use sippy cups! Well my MIL who is annoying and tells me everytime I see her which is at least 2 a week that I dont feed LO right .. but that is a whole other story that I can't take away the bottle that is just mean. I was like whatever and continued what I was doing well now DH is like your mean. But my DHs cousins were like no if she likes the sippy cup get ride of the bottles. So what would you do? My thoughts are get ride of the bottle!
Re: Sippy cup with a straw
first, rid not ride...
If she loves the sippy cup with a straw, why not get rid of the bottle gradually? You eventually want to wean her off the bottle entirely anyway, so if she's open to it you could start replacing some feedings with BM in a sippy cup now.
DS has finally figured out the sippy cup with the straw and he loves it too--thinks it's some kind of fun game! Right now I just give him a bit of water in it every day but I thought about replacing one of his bottles with the cup instead and seeing how he does.
Also, don't you love how everyone is always paranoid about how you feed your LO? My MIL is positive I'm starving him (he's almost 25 lbs, LOL) and my mom is convinced I'm overfeeding him. I say, until my dr says I need to change what I'm doing, he's fine. Follow your gut!
He's growing up, but he'll always be my baby!

I say go for it! If she will drink BM from it then I don't see the issue with getting rid of the bottles.
DS hates the straw sippy cups so far. He just has this look on his face like the straw tastes bad or something. He's doing ok with the regular sippy cup, but sometimes I have to hold it up for him since he's not so good with tilting it back himself. I wish he loved the straw one - it'd be so much easier.
This.I bought straw sippies last week and they end up being thrown on the floor. Neither kid knows what to do with them.
I'd ditch the bottles in a second. They both do okay with regular sippy cups but they won't drink formula out of them. Only water.
