Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Intro & Milk question

Good Morning! I will be moving over fairly soon, I am VERY excited for a new board!

So far I have replaced DS 10am and 4pm bottles with a small healthy snack and a sippy with milk/formula ( almost switched all the way to milk)

This leaves the 6am bottle and 8pm(bedtime) bottles.

Usually he has the 6 am bottle then an hour later he has some cheerios and yogurt/fruit. Should I just offer the sippy at 6 am and continue with bfast 1 hr later? OR did you find you LO is hungry and eats bfast right when they wake up?

Dinner is at 6pm then bedtime is at 8pm. Do I offer sippy before bed? or  Nothing?

Thanks for any advice or experiences!!!

Re: Intro & Milk question

  • My DS is about the same age as yours and he lives for his sippy of milk/formula right when he wakes up.  I have no plans to take that away as long as he still really wants it.  At bedtime, I give him the sippy earlier in the routine so it's not the last thing right before sleeping.  He eats dinner early so I will continue giving him the evening sippy until he gets a bit older and starts eating dinner later, with us.

  • When I got rid of Natalie's morning bottle, I just gave her breakfast right away instead.

By the time we got rid of the bedtime bottle (13 months old), she was only drinking about 1 - 2 oz anyway..... so, we just stopped.   It made no difference to amount she slept.
