DD just turned 2 less than a month ago. She started speech therapy, has gone 4 times (one time per week), 30 minutes each time. I'm not sure if actually the speeh therapy or if she just finally had her "word explosion". She talks so much all of a sudden! She's even stringing up to four words together. They aren't exactly complete sentences but close. For example, during dinner tonight, she drank all of her milk and wanted some of mine so she said "More mommy mil pease." She doesn't say all words exactly correctly but close. And we used to try to get to her to say words or phrases by asking if she could say this or that and she very rarely would even try. Now she just repeats what we say without being asked. I'm so tempted to take her out of speech because she's improving so much. And it's also really hard for me to get around (I'm coming up on 31 weeks with twins) and to get her to the appointments. If she wasn't improving so quickly, I wouldn't even think of taking her out. The therapist says every week how much she's improving but hasn't said anything about her being caught up. Of course, DD talks SO MUCH more at home than she does in the 30 minutes that she's with the therapist. Anyway, just wondering if she getting close to caught up for her age?
Re: How much talking at about 25 months?
at 24 months my son speaks in sentences much of the time. he'll say things almost identical to what pp said "oh no! puppy bumped his head! you ok puppy? feel alright puppy?" or "whatcha doing, daddy? daddy washing the dishes. i helpin' daddy" and things like that. I have no idea if this is advanced, many of the kids I know are a bit older and I seem to remember them being similar to my son. I haven't been to his two year appt yet so I don't know what the pedi says.
I think your daughter sounds like she's on the right track though. you should maybe talk to the therapist to see if they think it's a natural progression or because of the therapy sessions.
