Georgia Babies

Quick Disney help

Hi Ladies,

we are thinking we might hit Disney Weds and Thurs of this week on our way home to GA, since we are already here. Can someone guide me on how I should buy tickets. We want to be able to do magic kingdom and Hollywood studios. Should I get a park hopper for 1 day and then just a 1 day pass to MK? This is a total whim and will be just a quick thing and we are totally flying by the seat of our pants here. Any advice would be awesome.

If you have AAA, you can buy tix through them at a discount.  If it were me, I would skip Hollywood Studios and do Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom.  You could probably just do Magic Kingdom for 2 days and have plenty to do.

I wouldn't do the Park Hopper.  It's really hard to park hop with the little kids unless you are staying onsite.

Get there early.  Hit Dumbo first and try to knock out as much before 10:30--that's when the crowds hit.  (Buzz is in Tomorrow land-I know your little guy is a fan:))

You can bring in drinks and food too so if you can, bring in a little cooler for waters and fruit.  It will be hot.

Also, bring a garbage bag or rain cover for the stroller.  There are lots of afternoon thunderstorms in FL this time of year.

I always brought 2 small sling backpacks with me.  One with diaper stuff and one with food.  I would not bring a purse.  This way you can easily grab it when you are parking a stroller and getting on the rides.

  • Don't buy tickets off of those stands or scalpers trying to sell you a deal on a partly used hopper pass.  Often they are fakes.  Ditto getting there early.  It is hot as hades in Orlando right now.  We spent a day at Sea World and we could barely stand the heat last week.  The afternoon is the worst for the heat and crowds, and plan on getting rained on.

  • I wouldn't waste the money on a park hopper.  Stick with 1 park a day.  It's just too much to try to do more than that w/ a toddler.  I also say skip Hollywood Studios and do Animal Kingdom instead.  More toddler friendly.  Might as well buy tickets at the gate- it's just easier.  Heat will be bad so stay hydrated and don't try to do too much.  Just take your time instead of trying to do everything.  Toddlers just love being there- the rides aren't even that big of a deal to them.

  • We took the boys to DW last November for a couple days.  We planned this trip just two weeks before we went.  We wanted to get their feet wet to see how they would react and to see if it was worth booking a full week long trip for this year (which we did and we all loved it).  My recommendation is to do MK both days.  There is plenty to do and we had a great time just doing MK.  When we went back in May, we did MK and Epcot for 2 days and did the other two parks just one day.  I definitely do not recommend park hopper.  It's not worth the money with small kids.  I would consider park hopper once my boys are in their teen years.

I would also do MK and AK.  Not sure the best place to get tix but I would highly rec downloading on of the Disney wait time aps.  They are free and I was super impressed with how accurate they were when we were there a few weeks ago.

    Have fun!

  • I would just do MK both days. That way you won't feel rushed since there is so much to do there. We have never gone to Hollywood Studios since there seems to be very little to do there for young kids. I would go to Epcot if you really want to go to 2 parks. I wouldn't bother with the park hopper either since you are only going to spend 2 days there. I am sure Colin will have a blast no matter what you decide to do.

  • Thanks for all the tips! I think we will just do MK I am sure we will be exhausted once we are done and I think there is more there than we can do in just 2 days anyway. I am excited that the opportunity is presenting itself for us to go now to 'try it out' it will be nice to do something fun with our little family after the past 2 weeks. I hope Colin LOVES it! Happy Birthday to him. I appreciate all of the advice we have AAA and I am looking up all of the tips and fast pass stuff etc...I have also downloaded the wait time apps for our phones. This will definitely be a fly by the seat of our pants type trip.
